Friends of the Harbor Cleanup

Saturday May 23rd 10:00 - 12:00 @ Harbor

Tools Needed:
  • Gardening Gloves
  • Gardening tools (hand shovel, hand rake, pruning snips)
  • Wheelbarrow/wheeled garden cart
  • 5 Gallon Buckets
  • Shovels/Rakes/Pitch Forks
  • Tree pruning (loppers/pole saws/chain saws)
  • Hedge Trimmers
  • Pool Skimmer Net/Fishing Net
Donated Materials:
  • Grass Seed
  • Potting Soil
  • Home-harvested perennial divisions

Harbor Projects:
  • Planter Beds (Porta Potty area, tree areas along driveway, harbor entrance)
    • Weed
    • Prune dead branches from bushes/trees
    • Trim bush branches that are touching the ground
    • Plant marigolds at harbor entrance in bare spots
    • Plant donated perennials in empty circle
    • Mulch
  • Prune dead branches from evergreen next to boat launch
  • Rake dried mud/break up dried mud around fire pit area to allow grass to grow
  • Plant grasses in pots next to fire pit (mix up dirt, add potting soil)
  • Put new flicker tape on boat launch chain (this keeps the geese from entering the harbor)
  • Empty, clean, organize, inventory the shed
  • Use nets/pool skimmers to remove floating junk from edges of harbor
  • Lightly sand and touch up paint on wood benches (reddish brown paint)
  • Touch up paint on sign (black paint)
  • Remove broken cleats
  • Unearth rocks around fire pit, they should be above the ground not in it
  • Cut down buckthorn by port a potty, stack branches on curb
  • Lay grass seed in bare spots (not in areas roped off by caution tape) 
  • Put in 4X4 post next to evergreen hedge at Harbor Entrance (rope to be added later).  Paint Black
